In a three days workshop with the topic „designing the design studio“ we tried out a new methodology to discover the interests of the workshop participants and to get to know the needs of the city. Based on the attitude to react to what we find - we spontaneously created a studio collective and reformed the concept of the „carped studio“ during this 50 hours process of the workshop.
On this journey we took a blanc piece of paper the „sketch carpet“ with us. It formed a sort of „common ground“ and had the role of a carpet to sketch different sorts of subjective perception, but also it had the role of a kind of intervention to the places were we appeared. Due to the uncertainty of the outcome the contribution of every participant was necessary.
This method supports the perception of a city, the empirical knowledge, the reflection of experience, the leveling of impression and the debate on the process itself.
